WiseCP is a hosting automation platform that brings selling, provisioning and support into one place. There are four ways to extend it: modules that add new capabilities, themes that own the whole site, hooks that change existing behaviour, and an API for outside systems.
The work goes through those doors. That way, when the next version ships, themes and addons stay put and nobody has to hunt for an old change buried in the core.

Are customisations lost when WiseCP updates?
Not as long as core files aren't edited. Changes live in theme, module and hook files; an update brings its own core, and your work stays in place.
Which kinds of modules can be built?
Any module type WiseCP supports, such as hosting panels, payment gateways, domain registrars, SMS, email, backup and admin addons.
